Experiment season is wrapping up here
Sad: weather that's good for testing is rapidly slipping away here. :(
The cool weather makes it harder to do tests because it takes the car so much longer to reach stable operating temperature - engine, tires, wheel bearings, driveline... And doing A-B-A on a car that's still warming up is a quick route to flawed results (I've seen it myself). Not to say it's impossible to test in cold weather, but I don't like having to drive around for 45 minutes beforehand just to do some test. |
I know, eventhough I park in my garage, it still takes the car longer to warm up in the morning lately. Luckily my garage doesn't get that cold, even when it's really cold out side.
Another thing I don't like about cold weather is that my car shakes a lot. lol. Solid motor mounts hate cold weather. At idle, it's like I'm sitting in a vibrating massage chair. |
Solid mounts... never heard of that before.
But, mmmm. Vibrating massage chair. |

They really help with traction, but they suck to daily drive with. Plus, a 1990 Civic isn't the most solid thing to begin with. Feels like it's going to rattle apart. |
Killed FE with Experimentation
I hear you Metro. For me the other day it wasn't cold enough to get decently cold numbers for the IAT experiment. In the meantime, you have to drive the car around to warm it up, do a few runs without CODFISHing, etc. I killed my last tank, but I'll chalk it up to: "In the Name of Science". :o
