Anything Honda, small, and lean-burn. Anything VW and diesel. Anything hybrid. Anything really small with a really small engine. And plenty of other stuff in between.

I think krousdb would be partial to the Honda VX. Another good car for all out FE potential is the Honda Insight. A group of guys just set a new world record in Oklahoma with an Insight. They travelled 2254.4 on one tank of gas with anaverage of 164.3 mpg. Krousdb may have more details later.

If you do not want to pay the price of a hybrid, and you want a gas automobile, I would suggest the Toyota Yaris LB 5 speed, 34 city, and 40 hwy, avg of 37mpg. I purchased one last week, and I love the car.

Hond Insight
2000-2006
5 speed (EPA 61/66)

Don't get the cvt (auto) users only average 55mpg while they average 64mpg on the stick. 100mpg is possible with it if you know how to drive it right in the right conditions. Actually +150mpg

Another good one is the Toyota Echo. 41 mpg highway.

Geo. Great Engineering Overlooked. The only good thing that Toyota and GMC did together thats had a great future. Sometimes I wish I had an Insight instead of the yaris. But I love my liftback. Auto by the by

My Geo was a Suzuki built car not a Toyota - as far as I know anyway. I think you may find that the Yaris has more potential and should last a long time without problems - gotta find out how much of the drivetrain is like my xB.
