Excellent article.........stay slim, use less fuel...........makes sense to me.
We need to get people out of those large SUV's..........that would really save fuel.

I don't think the lower FE is a result of weight gain. I think it's because of too much time idling in the fast food drive-through lines. :D

The weight gain corrisponds with the use of high fuctose corn syrup in foods - I remember when Log Cabin maple syrup started using it the taste changed and the sweetness dropped so I needed to use more - finally stopped using the stuff and switched to ice cream on my pan cakes. Now you find the junk in everything including tomato sauce.

It doesn't really help that people have to drink sweet drinks constantly. Just drink water. If that study is true wouldn't people that fill up halfway get better mileage than people who fill up.

The article said you could save 18 gallons a year. I don't think that will show up on fillups. I have to think that in a perfect world those numbers would be correct. Kinda of scary that there are that many cars on the road that a 1% decrease will save that many barrels of oil. How hard would it be for auto makers to shave 5% of the current standards with simple mods and their own weight reduction? So if your 30 % over EPA how many barrels of oil are you saving?:D

I think most people carry more extra weight in their trunks (the car's trunk that is lol), than they do on their bellies.

Just taking the extra stuff out of the car would save a good amount of weight. Most people carry around so much junk all the time.

Yes that is true but I don't drink sweet drinks and they still sneek the corn syrup into foods and the side effect is that it makes you crave more since it doesn't satisfy your craving for something sweet. Like the low fat cookies that have more sugar meanwhile your brain needs proper fats to function properly and to feel good.
