Pig Oil wins again!
Voters Rejected: California proposition 87 - to add an additional tax on oil (about 2 to 6% depending on the price of oil per barrel) produced in the state of California amounting to an additional 4 billion dollars drain on the oil industry. This loot was to be diverted to research in alternative energy sources.
Died from apathy by some, and fear that gas prices will go up from the rest. News Flash: GAS PRICES WILL GO UP ANYWAY! I hate how easily American voters are manipulated by greedy, sardonic, machiavellian, soulless corporations. (PDF warning: Proposition 87) |
utility companies don't pay taxes . . . utility company customers pay taxes.
In the end the people would end up paying - I think they are seeing the light. |

Do you think that they don't know this "basic trickle down economics" ? It is always the little guy that ends up paying in the end and each time the money goes around they take a little more out for taxes.
Around here in RI we purchase our power from out of state and the local power company says "we don't make any profit on the power we purchase we just past the cost onto the consumer. If we have to pay a lot for the power so does the consumer." What they are not doing is buying the power at the lowest price DUH! So they just pass the blame onto the supplier WHICH THEY CHOOSE! and no one catches on. |
The additional element to this problem is that if they add $0.10 to the price as a tax or something, that gives the producers a chance to 'pass along" "their cost", with a handling fee and then we end up paying $0.20 by the time it get's to the end user.

Twas an interesting read, and a pity. Alternative fuels are for suckas anyway. What happened with the carbon emissions proposition?

Actually, I thought it was more like $14.5 billion.
BTW, if the oil companies would only pass along the tax to the consumer, then why did they spend record amounts fighting it? They must be altruists. ;) |
Corporations suck. It's a shame that they now rule Amerika rather than the people.
