Mazda to Scrap Cargo Cars
Hello -
Did some already post this? https://wardsauto.com/home/mazda_scrap_cars/ Mazda Motor Corp. says the 4,703 vehicles aboard the Cougar Ace ship, which almost capsized in July near Alaska, will be scrapped. ?After thorough testing by engineers from our North American and Japanese (research and development) centers, we decided the most appropriate course of action ? with our customers foremost in mind ? was not to sell any of the 4,703 Mazdas aboard the ship,? Jim O?Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations, says in a statement. CarloSW2 |
have you ever owned a car that was in a flood? fresh water is one thing, I couldn't imagine salt water.

The article didn't say anything about the cars being soaked. It just said that they were tilted while strapped on board. I'd say auction them without any warantee implied or otherwise. Maybe by 'scrapping' them, they will secretly use some of the parts on future manufactured vehicles :D

Manufacturers are always liable if the product is structualy faulty , and just voiding a warranty doesn't get around that. So its better (financially) for them to shred the lot , than have 1 car involved in a fatality ,,that could somehow be put back onto what happened on that boat. |
