Mirrors and Formula 1 cars
I want to know if anyone has looked at what they can do with the drag on the mirros.I metrompg removed one and folded one but I seen on Formula 1 cars were they have extentions from the back face were mirror is extending back from there...like adding a cone to the mirror and cutting off the end. This would help the mirror issue I think any ideas?
I really do not want to take off my mirrors. |
Install a rear-facing video camera and lcd screen and call her good ;)

Here's some rough specs on the F1 mirrors, if you ever felt like making one ;)
F1 Spec Mirror |
i've recently been wondering if adding a small fairing to the rear edges of a mirror would reduce it's drag. these fairings could possibly reduce the wake behind the mirror, like a kammback . the F1 mirror also seems to have something similar.
possibly vortex generators (dimples or bumps or whatever) at places where the airflow is likely to break away at an undesired angle could aid in the proses . (keeping in mind i'd be modding my current mirrors and not designing "perfect" new ones) of course the main question remains as to how effective this modification would be... i doubt it would make a measurable difference, but all little bits could help |
I'd love to find aftermarket aero mirrors for my F350. They are HUGE, and doubtless suck up diesel.

They have the same bumps on top of their headlights. Anyone know more about this? |
