Doh! Wrecked the Beater!

Well here's the deal, I was coming back to work just now and got in a wreck. I was coming up HWY 29 in the picture and taking the right fork onto Green Top Road. The weather is wet today and I was doing about 40 mph (under the limit of 45). After I had already committed to take the fork, a lady in a new Saab pulls out of Heritage Drive in front of me. I locked up my brakes and steered to the left to avoid T-boning her and ended up peeling off the front of her car with my right front corner.

After some work with a utility knife, I cleared my bumper and stuff off my tire and came back to work. So much for an aerodynamic front end now! I'll survey the damage further tonight and post up pictures, but this car now needs AT LEAST a new hood, front bumper, passenger fender, and headlight, and lots of hammering probably to get things to even remotely line up.

I don't intend on getting another car right away...I'll probably drive this one looking like a heap for a little while still...hell it still drives, why not? I am not making an insurance claim. I don't even think I bent any suspension or broke a radiator.

I'll probably still drive this one at least for a little while longer. How much are you wanting for that thing anyhow? Get me the details on it...maybe I'll fly out to SLC and drive it back to Atlanta.

Yikes. Glad the people got out unscathed though.

Brings back memories of Diemaster's Civic wreck... https://www.gassavers.org/garage/view/21

Dude that looks like it was her fault. Did she have a stop sign? From that picture looks like she would. If so her fault. HER INSURANCE buys Matt's civic.

Yep there was a stop sign and it was her fault. But honestly, how much would the insurance company give me? $300 and total out the beater?

You should call your insurance company and tell them. They could also give you the $ figure on your totaled car. Then you buy back your car after it is totaled by her insurance.

My friend did that just a month ago on his 20 year old Honda Civic HB. Same story as yours, it was her fault. Do it! :)

I've heard of people getting $2000 for their EFs.

BTW, I'm thinking of selling my z1 sedan for $1000 as-is, or $2000 after I make a few more fixes to it... it needs:

re-align the drivers door
figure out why the hook sticks up 1/2 inch
put in new window regulators in both front doors (I have the regulators - brand new)
put the ECU back
fix timing, general tune up, etc.

It's not too much work, but I just don't have the time for it.
