Electronic Ways to Improve Your Fuel Economy
Hello -
I'm having lots of fun down under! Here's another article : Electronic Ways to Improve Your Fuel Economy 27 September 2006 At a glance... * Air/fuel ratios * Changing air/fuel ratios :) * High load mixtures  * Lean cruise :D * Losing the oxy sensor  https://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_3022/article.html This article talks about "factory lean cruise", which I surmise is the Honda VX specialty. I don't think I would remove the 02 sensor, except for the purpose of a short term test. CarloSW2 |
I think I'm one of the few people here with an Autospeed subscription. Their technical articles are top notch.

Do a search on on autospeed for "prius", "negative boost" and "aerodynamics" (tuft testing) for some interesting reading. They also show how to build from scratch and O2 sensor monitor and O2 signal controller in order to manipulate air/fuel ratios on the fly from inside the cabin. Very cool stuff. I enjoy autospeed because their approach is very analytical. Their goals with most modifications doesn't just mindlessly pursue peak horsepower. Instead they look for ways to optimize the existing systems in your car. Stuff like the low RPM torque turbo was very interesting for example.
