Scrutiny of public figures' energy use habits
In the An Inconvenient truth thread, I predicted that we're going to see a dramatic rise in scrutiny of public figures' energy use habits.
This thread could be a spot to post that kind of stuff... --- Starting with today's Globe and Mail: there was a brief bit about the Canadian federal environment minister, whose official vehicle is an E85 minivan. It was spotted idling (with the government driver sitting in it) for up to 2 hours this week outside a restaurant where the minister was eating. In his defense, the minister said it was "less than an hour". Some defense.... "I didn't shoot him 6 times, officer - I only shot him twice, I swear." |
Most places that have laws against idling for more than a short time, make exceptions when it's cold out...all folks being equal, but some folks are always more equal than others.

Never mind I found it. In Texas the law only applies between April 1- October 31 and the car has to be more than 14,000#. This was pretty humorus though. Only in Texas |
The Ottawa law I found here: https://www.ottawa.ca/city_services/e...ng/2_2_en.html
