Daewoo Leganza

Do you think it would make a good FE car? 2.2 liter, auto, 115,000 miles. It is a passinatly hated car for some reason. A common problem seems to the the timing belt breaking, and smashing valves. any other problems with this model?

Might want to have a look through some old Car and Drivers, If I remember correctly, this car was rather heavy, and not the best gas mileage. If I find the old magazine, I'll let you know :)

Also what year is it?

::EDIT:: another inteseting thing is, they forgot to govern these cars out of the factory!! So top speed is around 130mph I believe. Not that we drive over 60, but in case of emergency, it's nice to know its' there haha.

Run Away!

MPG (city) 20
MPG (highway) 28
MPG (combined) 23

That is HORBLE gas mileage for a 4 door sedan, you should be able to find something like a Toyota Corrola that will get 40+mpg, or a Camery that will get low 30's, and those are big cars! at least they felt like it when I sat in the back seat with 3 other people, and I'm not all that little.

It weighs 1400 kg, which is 3086 lb. I don't like that part of it. And the auto doesn't help.

I was talking to Google and it told me about these Daewoo websites :

I forgot to post back, but I also checked out a few car opinion sights.

Consumer guide gave this a 1/10 for overall value. CarSurvey mentioned MANY times that parts are rare, expensive, and often required due to things breaking. If it's more than a couple hundred dollars, don't get it.

My sister had one for about 2 years. It was a good looking car and ran quite well too BUT just as red91sit said, parts are rare and expensive. I used to pride myself for being able to track down almost any part but that Leganza had me just about go nuts.

Look overseas. Obviously English speaking countries make this easier, but Daewoo probably has plenty of parts overseas.

You guys rock, thanks for the replies! I joined Daewoo tech and it appears my best bet is to buy parts online, and maintain it religiosly. I fixed the radiator and drove it, and I really like it! I am surprised how well that little 130 hp motor can move that car. I bet it wouldn't be as good with it loaded with people and stuff in the trunk though. There is something about big cars I like, I don't know what it is.
