Still trucking along @35mpg

Well my 93 Civic EX with 173k on the car is still getting 35mpg without even driving for best FE.

My wife drives this car 90% of the time, and well she gets up to speed kinda fast. When I used to drive it most of the time my best tank of gas was 38mpg. Now later this year we plan on paying off my car and getting her a new Honda Fit.

Then I get the Civic to drive to work and back, and I will save the miles on my 04 Ion Redline. I am planing on disconnecting the Power Steering belt and trying to keep the tires @ 38psi. Im going for 40mpg out of the car. I think it's very possible with disconnecting the PS belt, and definatly possible if I disconnect the A/C belt in the winter around here.

Check out my gas logs and tell me what you think.

it might be a good idea to replace your power steering rack with a non power steering rack, beyond saving weight, it will be easier to steer with, a car like the civic doesn't need power steering, it's just abserd.

You can do 50mpg np. If you don't want to, I can't blame you. Going from 20mpg to 30mpg saves ~$1000 every 20,000 miles with gas at $3/gal, but going from 35mpg to 50mpg only saves ~$600 over the same time period. Actually... That's a good chunk of change. I just figured that over the past 6 months I've saved enough to get an Xbox 360 with the only downside being maybe 10-20% longer trips. Once I resume my ~20k miles a year, the savings will be nuts compared to what I used to pay. Get yer mpg on.

If your wife has no problem with it, it's time to do some aeromods.

She'd have a problem with that lol. When I get a hold of the car theough it's going to be interesting. Heck the exhaust has 2 leaks on it and it still dong pretty good.

To much time and money to really get that far into it for me. I know it would problably save around 50-100lbs by doing that though. The pump itself is a good 10lbs.
