Winds
We are having some high winds today here and that made me think of how bad of fe im gonna get when i have to go to work at 5. Anyone know of good ways to get the best fe when there is high winds.

Tree-lined side roads if you can find 'em. Otherwise, try to find a way to make the high winds a tailwind instead of headwinds.

If the winds are direct headwinds, following a truck (preferably slow moving eg 55mph for safety reasons)

Definitely. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to catch a truck going up the San Gregornio pass at ~45mph, which is pretty much my lower limit in 4th gear uphill. I've been trying to cut speed whenever possible, and iirc, a 2mph drop in average speed in top gear can result in a 6% increase in mileage. I just pulled my best round trip tank ever, and I haven't looked at tire pressure in a couple months.

couple months!!! i cant take it more then a few days with out checking!!

lol, I haven't had to add air since last summer! I must have some darn good tires?
BTW, i also hate wind!!! I can't get over 30mpg, unless it's dead calm. |
