This kid i know is into fast hondas and he re ran his pullys to by pass the a/c compresser he said it helped a bunch for hp but i want to know if anyone here has done it for fe

He prolly just de-belted the a/c, it would prolly help a tiny bit.

i dunno without the AC compressor running(only on when you have ther ac on) its relatively frictionless pulley. it would be barely noticeable at best..

If anyting, it wouldn't hurt gas mileage. It still takes some energy for a belt to curve around a pulley.

yea but its so minimal its not worth it...it woult take decades for the savings from the mpg to accualy add up to the cost of a new belt...

honda uses a seperate belt for the A/C, so removing it is not an issue, and you are not just turning the belt, but you are turning half the clutch as well, V belts are a horble power robbing design, removing it is free.

wait what year of car is thsi whole discussion about? i was going under the assumption that it was ona car with a serpintine belt.

if it is V belts then by all means take off that ac belt.

what I meen is, a clutch has two halves when it's disengaged, so you have a pound or two that is attached to the pully that is also spinning, plus the bearings, when I took my A/C off, you could spin the pully on the A/C, that weight and drage puts a load on the engine, and the drage of the v belt puts even more drage on the engine just by being there.
