88 CRX 97 Integra LS Cluster, what VSS do I need?

I was under the impression that I needed a 92-00 Civic VSS and that any one would work.

Today I picked up what I was told was a 93 Civic VSS. Unfortunately this unit won't fit without pretty major modifications that I am not real sure if I want to do or not.

I'm wondering if this one doesn't fit because I have an auto tranny and this is made for a stick? I also read that a 96-00 Civic VSS should fit without any problems as it is less bulky

I started a thread on honda-tech that has some pictures.

Do I have the right VSS or do I need another one?

Oh ****, I forgot to answer you.

This is the VSS I used. Luckily I dropped the tranny with the vss in it and broke it in half and broke off the mounting tabs as well. This allowed it to fit just perfectly, :)

You need to cut off the mounting arms and just stick it on in there.

Also, to get the old one out, leave the PB blaster sitting for a night, try using a huge wrench to wiggle it back and forth, and failing that, cut a deep notch in the outer edge of the vss and use a hammer and big screwdriver to hit the notch back and forth to try and wiggle the vss out.

:)

So the pictures I have posted on H-T are of a unit that will work but I just need to hack off some pieces?

In the pictures do I cut off all the parts but leave the highlighted box#2 piece on? That seems to be how the unit will mount back to the tranny.

Hmm, you have a different but similar vss from me. But it looks like you can cut one and two if that's what you need. Get the old vss out and take a picture with them together, :)

I will do that tomorrow morning. Hopefully the PB Blaster that I am letting soak over night will let me pull it right out tomorrow.
