FE Team Challenge Rules - Version 1.0 (obsolete)
I thought that I would condense the rules so that you don't have to go through the whole discussion thread to find out what to do since it keeps changing. As for now.
The rules are as Follows: 1. Must have at least one gaslog entry every 28 days. 2. Minimum fill must be 3 gallons. 3. Must record all fill ups. 4. There will be a 5% penalty to the team EPA for fills of less then 3 gallons or no fills with in 28 day. 5. Competition will be based on combined team % of EPA using the new numbers since that's what the Gaslogs will reflect. 6. Only actual fill data will be used for the official data. 7. At least two cars must be above the Mason-Dixon line. 8. Repeated failures of gaslog entries or not making minimum fill will be grounds for disqualification. We will be using new EPA numbers so go Here and make sure your numbers are correct. Teams and Cars: Teams will consist of 5 total cars. The team makeup will consist of at least one automatic, and one 4 door car. One car can fit both requirements. Scoring; The official stats will be posted every 28 days based on actual fill data. Weekly updates to see how it's going should be posted once a week before Monday. These should also be forwarded to the team captain so that he may send them to the official scorer. The weekly stats can be based on fills and or FE instrumentation (SG or SmID) if you have it. If you do not fill in a week just give the MPG for the tank off the SG. These numbers are just estimates because we go by actual fill data. When you record the data on the thread just list if it's actual or SG data and only one entry per week per car. If you don't have FE instrumentation then will just use what's in the gaslog for your previous % epa. Each competition will run in 28 day blocks starting on Monday. The team at the end of 28 days with the highest gain in team % over starting EPA will be the winner. At the end of the 28 day cycle the team EPA will be rest and a new cycle will begin. This will give new teams a change to join and members to come and go on a specific team. This is something I'm thinking about: At the end of the 28 day cycle the winning team will be awarded 3 points, 2nd place 2 points and 3rd place 1 point. At the end of 28 days the %EPA will be reset and the competition begins again using the new figures for each team. There will be a winter (OCT-FEB) and summer competition (MAR-SEPT). The team with the most points at the end of the series will be winner of that series. |
So we no longer need a v6? I might be able to get the honda team going then...

Version 2.0 Rules
GasSavers.org ?FE Team Challenge? Official Rules and Charter, Version 2.0
Please read these rules before the competition, but above all ? have fun! This is a Working Document and May Change Depending on Unanticipated Events. Consider this a ?Constitution? with Amendment Ability. Overview of Official Rules 1. Participants must have at least one Gaslog entry every 42 days. 2. Minimum fill must be 3.00 U.S. gallons. 3. All fills must be recorded in the Gaslog, using the ?Honor System?. 4. There will be a 5% penalty to the team EPA for fills of less than 3 gallons or no fills within 42 days. This is cumulative for each team member (i.e. 10% Team Penalty for 2 members penalized). 5. Winners are determined by the improvement of a team?s ?Average Percentage of EPA from Baseline? as described in the Calculations Section. 6. Players may drop or be added at any time (see Teams and Vehicles). 7. Only actual fill data will be used for the officially cacluated data. Other estimates may be used on a ?Weekly Update? status. 8. At least two cars must be above the Mason-Dixon Line; at least one car must each have an automatic transmission and one with 4-doors (one vehicle can satisfy both requirements) 9. Repeated, missing Gaslog entries, or the failure of maintaining a minimum fill-up in a cycle will be grounds for disqualification. 10. Appeals can be made to the Commissioner (role and processs described further in the document). Calculations A team?s final score is calculated using the following: 1. A 90-Day Average FE is calculated either via the Gaslog, or by the Commissioner, using the start date of the cycle as the 91st Day. 2. The vehicle?s original configuration is cross-referenced with the EPA?s newly tested FE data (despite any modifications). Ensure the Garage lists the proper EPA ?Combined? FE value by visiting HERE. 3. If a Member joins mid-cycle, a calculation of the member?s 90-Day average from the start of the cycle will reflect a baseline figure. 4. All 90-Day averages are re-calculated at the beginning of a cycle. 5. The ?Baseline Percentage over EPA? is calculated using the 90-Day average and the EPA FE-Combined. 6. The ?Final Percentage over EPA? is figured by the cumulative, Gaslog-sourced MPG values vs. the vehicle?s EPA FE-Combined (?Cycle-End Cumulative Percentage Over EPA?) 7. A member?s final calculation is the difference between the Baseline and Cycle-End Cumulative? or ?Improvement? (negative numbers reflect a decrease in efficiency). 8. Final: A team?s final calculation is the average of the ?Improvement? from fill data, minus any penalties. Teams and Vehicles

Separate thread for FE Team Challenge Version 2.0 rules
Rh77
I think that we need a sparate thread for this as a stand alone with V2.0 only. With version 1.0 at the top it will just confuse everyone. Let's make this a sticky with the Version 2.0 as the first post. Version 1.0 rules let's unsticky it and Change the title to Version 1.0 obsolete or revised. That way there will be no confusion and we can have a historical record. |
Moving Rules to Closed Sticky, moving 1.0 to obsolete
