Motorized Bicycle Project/Antique Honda Restoration.
I figured I'd share this project with everyone on here.
I recently acquired a 1952 Honda Cub-F auxillary bicycle engine. My plan is to fully restore this little gem, and mount it to a period correct Japanese bicycle. It's a 50cc 2-stroke engine that puts out 1/2 hp. This combines two of my favorite hobbies, riding bikes, and restoring old Hondas. Hopefully it'll run good and be fairly gas efficient and I might actually get a little use out of it; otherwise, it will just stay in my house as a display item. I had a Schwinn Wizard combo when I lived on the west coast years ago. Was my pride and joy back then. Talk about a ubber cool moped. :) Of course I had my motorcycles, even peds on steroids. And my x/19 Fiat all Arbarted out. ( poor mans Ferrari on steroids ). And my 440 ram charger and hemi car. OOO the days when insurance and fuel ment nothing....
Those old peds are way cool! And the prize is the old Honda packs. Ive only seen two of them in near OEM shape. I still have my old 50 mini trail tho.... A real Honda. :) |
Great project. I like the design.
I've put together several engine powered bikes including one with a belt drive Honda GX31 4 stroke engine. Now I use a cheap Chinese engine powered bicycle for commuting when weather permits. $300 total including the new bike. Here's a link to a pic of the one I built for my daughter. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/QDM/mbike4.jpg Q |
