LRR tires

Next payday, the 15th, I'll be buying four new tires for my truck. The tire size is 215/65 15 so I'm going with the Goodyear Viva 2 tires ($73.00 at Wal Mart) which advertise LRR characteristics. Anyone have any experience with these tires or can they recommend a better LRR tire in this size for the same or less money?

I've dealt with several sets of the viva/2s. Overall its a decent tire. Pros would be 44psi allowed, decent wear rating, and bargain price. Cons would be not the best tread compound, kinda wimpy sidewall(I blew a nearly new one on my saturn), buying from walmart, and unknown origin. My mom has them on her astro and they handle fine. However I personally went for the mich harmony's, but I wouldn't recommend harmony's for a truck. I find you get what you pay for in tires and generally there are no real exceptional bargains.

ok what about a LRR tire that is 185/70R13 wlmart has those cheap douglas tires that seem pretty good (thier only $32 a tire)

jdham,

Check out this link. I don't know which ones are good truck tires, but at least you can see the ratings in each category, including rolling resistance:

I have also used 2 sets of Nokian tires on my previous Honda, and I can vouch for the fact that they're LRR.

I've been pretty disappointed that TireRack doesn't show rolling resistance values in their spec sheets. They show max sidewall for all tires which is helpful.

Ya, the Nokia i3's are low rolling resistance. I have them on the van and really like them so far.
