I suspect that the reason it's sat for as long as it has, is that it's not truely road worthy, and wasn't ment to be, alot of records like that were made on closed tracks, it just had to look from the outside like something socialy acceptable for the time, and that was it, top speed is most likely some where around 40mph, if even that.

I have no doubt that it truly gets 376 mpg. It's an utterly impracticle, purpose built car made purely to achieve a record. Heck, there's cars out there that get thousands of miles per gallon, but those are purpose built cars to break records, and would be useless on the street.

theclencher - are you the one with the two part question, Mr. Tigger-Fip?!?! :)
|
Why would you fill the engine bay with ice?
|
I wonder if the ice was so they could run it with no radiator?
It looks like it comes with the specialized, low rolling resistance tires, on the drive wheels. Check out that tread depth. |
Must have been doing burnouts. :-)
Since they are not flat, I bet they are solid rubber. That would definitely help the gas mileage... |

I see what you mean on the bead, but the bottom of the tire is not compressed or flattened like a flat tire would be. Maybe he put it on small blocks.
What a weird rig. It's a big go-kart with a car body laid on it... |
