ethanol conversions?
Has anyone out there done a conversion on a car for flex-fuel? I have read and heard from several sources that it could be done for $200-300 in parts. No company has stepped forward to accomplish this great idea. I have done some searching and have found that due to the EPA the cost would be great for each engine. I think it said $23000 for approval.
What would have to be done to the engine? I know absolutely nothing about cars. I know where to put the fluids. lol. What would happen f you just increased the concentration of ethanol in the current car that your driving. There is a car being built in BC that gets 92 mpg called that "ala? It vaporizes the gas so it burns more efficiently. Well if you did that with ethanol: ON 10 gal of E85 @92 mpg is 613.33 mpg of gasoline. Take that OPEC!!!:D Hope I did jump all over the place for everyone or put any one to sleep reading this. Its just food for thought. An comments rants/raves are welcome. |
zpiloto ran some experiments putting large quantities of E85 in his car. You could look at that thread.
As for 613 mpg, you lost me. Oh wait, I get it now. 15% gasoline, 92 mpg, etc. |
