Memorial Day. Remember those who died for our country.

Memorial Day, May 28, 2007

In memory of those brave souls who died for their country in wartime, all wars from the Revolutionary War to the present.
We all owe a great debt to those who died protecting our freedom and our country, the United States of America.

If you know a veteran, young or old, please make a point of telling them soon how much you appreciate their service and sacrifice for all of us.

Thank you, CO ZX2

Here here. I've literally buried too many friends and acquantences.

We lost one of our locals in Afghanistan about 2 1/2 weeks ago. His 8 year old daughter got her birthday present from him in the mail right before the family got notification - breaks me up every time I mention it so I won't say any more except it was his first firefight - and he wasn't a shooter, he was a medic. ("shooter" is the main guys who do the firing at the bad guys) He was one of the people who joined after 9/11 to try to make a difference.

My pet peeve is those who say "Happy Memorial Day"............

CHALLENGE-Find a veteran today.

I challenge each one who reads this thread to find a veteran (young or old) today and tell them how much their service and sacrifice for our country means to you.

Then come back here and tell us their response.

I started doing this myself a couple years ago on Memorial Day. I just started asking everyone I met if they were a veteran. I found quite a few and couldn't believe the responses. These guys are overjoyed when they find out somebody cares enough to ask. One gentleman was a vet of World War II, he was so happy he almost cried.

Make yourself happy.

Thanks, CO ZX2
