New Members! Tell us about yourself!
I have a thread here:
https://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=3621 please let us know about yourself :) I'm really interested in knowing where you heard about GasSavers. |
Someone on NASIOC (North American Subaru Impreza Owner's Club) mentioned it when it was looking for FE ideas...I lurked for a few days and then joined. Alot of WRX drivers get low 20's but if I can get over 30 I'll hopefully get some more WRX'ers on-board the FE bandwagon.

Local TV station website had a story on a couple of Okie hypermilers. Poked around this site as a listed link, liked what I saw. I'm not your typical eco-nut though, I am a gearhead looking for high performance. IMO high performance and crappy fuel economy do not need to go hand in hand. Hot Rod Magazine built an old Nova that could get 10 second quarters, get 20MPG, and reliable enough to drive coast to coast. I think that I could top them with their budget, but since I don't have it I'm shooting for 13 second quarters and 30MPG. Since coming to this site though, I'm starting to up my MPG goals. :D

read it on the MSN news webpage.....I'm a banjo picker and reccommended this site to some of the guys over at the banjohangout.org so lookout for pickers! I drive a 99 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 and it DRINKS gas...its like driving a box into a hurricane at 80 MPH! but'll run over bout anything :)

Slashdot --> hypermiling --> cleanmpg.com --> here
Have a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L that I used to get 17.8 mpg on with lots of short town driving. Have pushed it past 20mpg and climbing. And regular routes where the learning curve kicks in are seeing individual trip improvements of +25 to +35%. The car has a built in FE display but it's up above the mirror. I learned a lot from it but it sure helps having the Scanguage mounted on the dash right under where I'm looking. I've been putting the techniques to use and really trying to get actual data for my vehicle rather than guesses. For example, it turns out that having my windows wide open doesn't cost me anything. So much for "A/C is more efficient at highway speeds." Bah! A/C costs me over 30cents a gallon. It kills me when I hear people who scoff at a 3% gain in mileage but will sit waiting for an hour at a gas station running a gimmick 10cents/gallon discount on $3 gas. |
so many new members its insane i just hope they all post and stay.
