First fill in a new car

How do you allow for filling the tank if it has some fuel in it when you pick up a new car? I suspect it will not be full when I pick mine up tomorrow. Should I fill it ASAP and include the information in Fuelly as partial or wait till the first "real fill" before recording it?

When I got my new car I just waited for the first fuel-up where I had all of the details I could enter. I can see how you'd want to be able to say that you've tracked every single tank from the beginning--but that initial tank isn't going to affect your average over the life of the car.

Can't really consider it accurate unless you know that the odometer was reset when the car was last fueled up. No point in including it if it's not accurate. Fill the car up when you purchase it and then start recording on the next fill-up.

Thanks for the ideas pb and bentheswift.

As luck would have it the tank was filled and the odometer showed 15km so I figure I can use that and get a fair estimate even from the first tank. Unless I am missing something!

It seems to be running around 5L/100 based on the ScanGauge. Very pleasing; and educational to see the effects of driving styles.
