As the title says....what's this SuperMID that everyone is talking about?? Is it similar to the Scangauge 2, except for older vehicles??

It is indeed similar to the scanguage. It was originally designed for a prius mileage competition by a guy named yoshi. Now it's mostly used by people with older cars that have electronic fuel injection and an electronic vss.

How does one go about acquiring it?

Does anyone have any exp. with these gizmos?? Do you know if they can be adapted to fit a big ol' 4L?? etc, etc, etc.....
