newbie, would like any suggestions
Hi All!
Wow, found this site from the MSN "50 MPG on your car" article. I have a 1993 Chevy Lumina - got it for $75 out of pocket (sold an '89 Olds Cutlass for $225, bought the Lumina for $300). I haven't done anything to it, and drive like a maniac (Charlotte, NC drivers will run over you if you aren't doing at least 65MPH) and I still get 27.5 MPG. I'm hoping that from this site I can get more info to help the whole family. We live in a rural area, and we all have long commutes to work, so any suggestions are welcome. The others in my family have the following: 95 Neon, 45 mile commute (son) and 89 Ford F150 truck, 25 mile commute BTW, the standard tires for the Lumina are somewhat hard to come by (185/75/15) so I wonder if different rims/tires would make a difference? Thanks for any and all suggestions!! |
Welcome ! Proper tire pressures will have a noticeable affect, as will slowing down and reading the road ahead .Yes a taller tire and lighter rim combo will make a difference also . Look around a bit there is so much to learn , much more than you will learn from a few posts .
