I can't properly update my FE logs

Hopefully I'm not alone in this situation....

Right now I'm calculating FE the old fashioned method. Unfortunately for me, my car has a massive tank and I don't have $60 to just pump into it at any one time. I usually put $20 to $25 in it at a time, but any more is just too much. Unfortunately I'm also in the same boat regarding a ScanGauge. I just don't have the money to commit to buying something that isn't really a necesity (plus I'm skeptical that my monster sized car is going to improve that much anyhow, so I'm not even sure it would be worth getting if I could afford it). As well, I'm not even sure if my car is compatible for SG. How would I even go about checking for that?

Your car isn't compatible, SG is only for OBD2+ cars.

Trade the car in for something a little less guzzly, :)

I just found the compatability list as well and yeah, nothing before 1994.

I can't bring myself to trade the car in. I'm far too attached to it, and in all reality I would never get equal value for it.

*IF* I could fill the tank up with regularity I would like to try to aim for 30 mpg, but that doesn't look like it will be happening any time soon... :\

here is an idea...

Fill up at the each time your fuel gauge reaches a certain amount. Let's say it hits the 1/8 mark... time to fill up. That should give you a basic idea of how much gas is being used.

Over time the law of averages will take over and you'll have a pretty good idea of how much you're using.

i do kinda what matt said to do just at the 1/2 tank mark or 300 miles area
