1986 s-10 4x4 2.5 Iron Duke

I have a 1986 Chevy s10 that is a long bed. It is 4 wheel drive and has the Iron Duke 4 cylinder 2.5 litre in it. This truck also has a 4 speed manual transmission. My problem is I only get 21 mpg, any one know how to increase this, thanks

Dual t-cases w/ suitably taller gearing and a fabric bed cover with a wood frame so that you have the near optimal ~10-15 degree down slope from the top of the cab to the back of the truck.

Those old S10s are as aerodynmamic as a brick.

Any kind of bed cover will help your FE a lot.

5 speed conversion

well its nice to know that you could pass on the engine to a grandkid cuz those wont die!

but on a s-10: efan will do wonders check change fluids and clean out the carb or throttle body(not sure when they switched over to FI, thought in 94)

uhh if a 5speed swap is possible that will do wonders too. but 21 isnt bad at all for a 21 year old truck!

hehe btw i love longbed s-10's i wish my 95 was a long bed...
