The guy wants $2250 for it. With the mileage and the fact it has a salvage title I think thats a bit much. Is it a worthwhile buy? Whats most likely going to need to be replaced or expected to die soon?

Thanks

salvage title

Why did it have a salvage title? whats wrong with it? 230,000 ish miles? You should post some pics of this gem. I've had alot of hondas. It has alot to do with who has driven and maintained them and what their driving habits were. My g/f bought a 93 sentra with a salvage title and since the engine has been changed it seems to be an otherwise decent car. You could probably pick one up that doesn't have salvage title with similar miles for the money. Hers was $300. I picked up both my 88 CRX HF and 90 CRX HF for $500. If you have access to a junkyard with alot of honda parts you'd be alot better shape than me. Hurricanes down here wiped out all the junkyards. You need to drive the car too. Tell us what you think about it. Then we can give you a better idea of what you're in for.

"MUST SELL THIS WEEKEND" to me says "bring $1000 in cash and test drive the car." After your drive, say that the salvage title is bothering you, and that coupled with the mileage is holding you back from purchasing it. If the seller is unhappy with that amount, make a final offer, but tell them that you have to go to the bank to get the rest of the money. You might be surprised and actually walk away with it for $1000, but worst case scenario you can get it for SOMTHING less than the $2250.

I personally WOULD NOT pay that much for that car. I just got a 1998 Jetta TDI for $2300. The car is a salvage, and it has 120k miles on it. You need to pay substantially less than that. I say max out at $1500. Having the cash on hand could seal the deal. Real money always beats words and promises.

No clue whats wrong with, cept that its been posted for about 2 weeks. Out here you can get a salvage title if it was a theft recovery or it was in any kind of accident. I'm in no major rush to get something, but with the mileage and title ideally if I could pick it up for 500-1000 bucks that would be sweet. Odd thing is though the KBB on it. If it had a clear title with its current mileage the thing is still work $2.5k-$2.8k

Dang, a TDI like out here would easily fetch $8-$10k, salvage or not.

I would go for it, give it a spin and see what's up. Even if it needs a bit of work, it'll double your mileage from the Jeep and will hold resale like the devil.

E-mailed the guy, apparently he got the car in a trade and has only had it for about two weeks. He has no idea on its history. I'll try and see if I can check it out either tomorrow or Thursday

Crazy honda-tech guys...always swapping cars...

GasSavers_Red 06-16-2007 08:36 AM

So I'm going to see the car today, anything special I should look out for?

SVOboy 06-16-2007 09:13 AM

Check for rear quarter rust, cv joints, goes through all the gears well, runs smoothly, engine looks clean, not any cut up wiring or half-done things.

Good luck!

Today we went to pick up my Mits galant parts car... and right next to it was a Honda CRX!

it was in pretty decent condition too. It wasn't running, but suddenly I wanted it more than I did the Galant.

unfortunately, he had sold it already... :(
