Woo! Tripminder! Any 80's ford EFI, take a look.
Just installed a tripminder computer on my 87 t-bird. Now I finally have an instant FE reading available to me. Plus, it's a ford unit, and it looks quite stock!

Now, if anyone out there has an 80's style ford EFI car, the ones with the EEC-IV comp in them, they can get one of them too. If you have the electronic clock cluster that has the Date/Time/Elapsed Time options on it, you can swap it out for a tripminder that has Time, Trip distance, Speed, Instant FE, Avg. FE, and gallons used. Real nice!

Complete how to.

I know that site tells how to for Cougars and T-birds, but you could easily work it out for your own ford. Just need to know where the fuel usage and speed wires are.

So if you're too old for one of the scangauges, and don't want to fuss with installing a superMID, get a stock FE guage!

I think my grandmothers 88 crown victoria ltd had the FE readout on it. Of course the mileage blew.

Yeah, my dad's old Crown Vic had one, too. It never worked well, buttons were a pain to push.

But yeah, that Crown Vic averaged 15 or so MPG...

I think it had the mustang 5 liter engine in it.

Yeah. That's usually what they have. The 5.0. Late 80's had the HO, but mid and early didn't.

Either way, v8 = gas hog.

Well I sold the 88 t-bird Turbocoupe about 9 months ago or so so this is too late for me this time around ;) . I'll bet that could be adapted to other old cars. You just could not calibrate it.
