What's Your Average GPH?

In real world use, your MPG means very little if you are driving more miles than you really need to. So in the interest of evaluating how much fuel you really use, how many gallons per hour do you really burn when averaged over the normal work week of 168 hours?

I haven't actually checked it against my gaslog, but I would guess for us it's around 7 gallons used per week, or .0417 GPH (7 gallons/168 hours). For myself alone, it's closer to .0060 GPH.

Obviously I don't drive very much. What about you?

Oops, I should clarify that due to my job, I do actually drive many more miles during the day in my company vehicle, but the demands of that do allot to dictate how and where I drive. I don't even want to know what that useage works out to.

I think a better statistic would be how much you have reduced mileage and fuel since joining the site and what's you're house hold useage is. I think you would come out way head that way.

Perhaps. Let's add that to the discussion.

We haven't really reduced our miles driven at all since joining the site per se, but over the last year, we've cut them by a third to about 10,000 miles per year. Changing out our truck for the 5 is returning a 100% improvement in FE.

I drive 6 hours 20 minutes per week. During those six odd hours I drive about 161 miles. Thus, I travel about 25 miles per hour. I get around 50 mpg. This all works out to half a gallon per hour travelled.

So, my real world GPH is 0.5 gallons/hour.

Interesting change of pace ! 285 miles per week with @ 10.5 hours of drive time . 27.14 miles traveled per driving hour at @ 38 mpg or .71 real world gph .
figured by Snax work week formula: Approximately 7.5 gallons per week /168 hours = .04 gph
I can't at this time change my drive time or miles driven(other than work I drive very little ) , I can maximize my fuel usage per mile/hour .

It does give a whole 'nother look at what I do daily .

Depending on how many times I go to the gf's house and if I drive to work or car pool, but I think about 4 gallons a week. Once classes start again it'll be more like 6 or 7
