Metro in-floor deadening?

My `95 1.0L stick Metro has always been alittle loud, I just thought that's the way they were becuase of the small buzzing engine. Well, it went from alittle loud to VERY loud when my muffler essentially fell off. Combining that with my lack of rear seat/spare tire/rear insulation, driving a long distance could possibly cause head injury:thumbdown: ...

So, I got the muffler replaced the other day and to my amazement.......dead silence. Just, nothing....The reason it was "alittle loud" before was becuase there was a small hole. Now I cant even hear the exhaust unless I'm about 25%ish throttle.I imagine with my interior reinstalled it would be unnoticable most of the time...

So, while searching for a lost nut the other day, I realized there is alot of really thick sound deadening under the carpet. Anyone know how much is under there weight wise? I wouldn't mind alittle louder now that the exhaust is secure...

Well the proper GasSavers way would be to take it all out and weigh it and just sorta forget to put it back in !

In a Dodge Dart there was @ 25-30# deadener and 15-20# carpet . Pull the door trim off too and remove the paper deadener . Replace that with a 4-5 mil plastic film . I usually only had a front seat in the Darts - pretty svelte and loud !

Yes, Ive kept track of how much I've removed. Still need to wiegh the last batch but with a guessing that batch, I'd say I've taken out 92 pounds so far. And the only visible things removed is the back seat and radio. I could take the pass. seat, panels, carpet, dash all out and net another 60lb probably but I'm trying to have a visual limit here:D

Ill probably pull the pass. side up tomorrow, remove it, and test to see the difference...

You could replace it with Coroplast.
