FE around the house, cutting the lawn?

All:

Just paid $20.01 for 7.000 gallons of regular unleaded for:

2.0 gallons for the 1970s (OMC D type motor) LawnBoy mowers and a Brand X blower

5.0 gallons for the 1980s John Deere 316 (Onan 18hp motor)

....I have two acres. So this gas will get me 2-3 cuttings tops.

The retrofit Honda 24hp OHV for the Deere would improve FE, but the motor is $1650, and the Deere has under 600 hours so no sense in replacing the motor.

Early Lawn Boy mowers are something I collect, so they are half utilty/half hobby.

The counterpoint of this? If I go down anywhere from McMinnville, TN to Lewisburg, TN for about two fill ups, I can get one of these:

I live back in the woods so this would not be a problem with the neighbours, what are your thoughts?

I'd go for it and get two. They are pretty social creatures and you can even milk them if you care for the milk as an added bonus :)

I had a few Nigerian customers that owned Mercs and Peugeots that ate them too.

Yeah but that would deminish their gras cutting quality...

Very true. A friend reminds me of the UK airfields that are cleared with sheep. So do you want milk or clothing. Angora goat gives both?

But then, there is the goat IQ level...

You could also call it 'stubborn' :) Another plus is that they'll eat anything so not only would they cut your lawn, they would help with your garbage as well. Read the Sunday newspaper? Just throw it out the window...

We do that anyhow here in Tennessee....living with these rednecks reminds me of stories from friends that lived in the third world.

lol, yeah you're probably right there...even though I think there are more liquor stores in Tennesee compared to the third world.

Very true, and they LOVE fireworks, every nite this month, outside sounds like Gaza or Kosovo!

i had a old craftsman mower, i had to fill it 2xs for my yard. now i have a new one and it only uses one tank- it looks like the same size gas tank as the old. thats some sweet Fe for a walk behind ;) i got rid of my 2stroke weed wacker and bought a black n decker rechargeable. 2 batteries no more smoke/ mixing gas with oil /or sneezing my head off. granted after 3yrs the batteries need replacement but its still better for me and the environment. the grass edger was human powered now i have a gas guzzler that does it in 1/4 time - a lot less sweating now.
i had a jdeer riding mower but since i ran it dry of oil it still sits in the shed after 5yrs all apart- forgot where all the parts went too lol.
