Welcome! Sweet, you have a six speed! I was always curious, how is the six different from the 5 speed? Are the gears closer together? or do they just add a taller OD on top of 5th gear

The gearing in this one is pretty odd...the Getrag 6-speed on these was originally designed for the torque of the boosted Mini Coopers, so first gear is (too) tall, and 6th is relatively short, turning over 3000rpm @ 70mph. The gears are pretty close together already, especially 3-4 and 5-6.

However, if you ever drive anything with a T-56 6-speed (Ford Mustang Cobras, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and SS's, Corvettes, and Dodge Vipers), you'll probably find that it's more or less a regular 5-speed, geared rather tall already for its V8 applications, with a massive overdrive for 6th gear (.50:1). In a stock Camaro, it's turning over about 1400rpm at 60mph with its 3.42:1 rear end.

The 50mpg Focus would be nice...although he's probably running the newer Duratec 2.0l, where I have the older Zetec 2.0, itself tuned and geared more for power then economy. It's actually a wonder they get as good a mileage as they do on the highway, though it really struggles in town to break 25. Duratecs easily get 6-8mpg better then SVT-spec Zetecs, and probably 4-6 better than regular Zetecs.
