Newbie.

Hello all,

I've been working on fuel mileage on most of the cars i've had since back in 1997, and while nothing too exotic, i've been able to get better expected.

I usually have cruise control on my cars, so keeping constant speeds are easier. The one car I got the best mileage on was my 1990 Cavalier Z24. This was a 3.1L V6 and 5sp manual. I got 34.85MPG on a big trip from the F1 race in Montreal to Newark, NJ. I think the thing that helped me the most was the Vacuum/Boost gauge. I found i was able to hold speeds at 2in/hg or 10in/hg, but obviously was able to get better mileages at the higher vacuum, so I started getting the eye/foot coordination down to a science

Welcome to GS! I see you have one of the Saturn Coupes with the sedan noses. I like those better than the "swoop down" noses that were in the original design. Lot's of Saturn owners here, so they'll be lots to glean. But a 1994 might make you ineligible for a scangauge, :( .

Actually was going to install a vacuum gauge. This will work, but I will not see a direct MPG reading. I actually prefer the ODB I cars.
