What kinds of store bought products have you used in order to improve milage and driveability of you car? Like store bought fuel additives or after market contraptions?

i wanna start using a store bought fuel additive or something that i can put in my car regularly to help improve milage and conditon my car but there are so many out there! anyone have any suggestions??? i get pretty good mileage already but anything helps!

They're all BS, don't waste your money. Just use Shell or Chevron gas.

Yeah, Mythbusters did a whole show on them and found no big improvements.

Why Shell or Chevron? Better MPG? If so, is it veriable?

all fuel in Oregon is now the same E-10 blend, and has less BTU energy than last years fuels did- do a 3% drop in mileage is common. as mandated by hB2210

ok...well wut about additives?? the article itself says that the DEVICES are all bull**** but:

"These [devices] should not be confused with fuel system and valve cleaner additives which remove contaminants from the fuel system and/or remove deposits on intake valves."

so apparently these types of additves seem to work but, again, which ones???

Any money you spend on additives will offset the savings in fuel you MIGHT get. if you get 1 mpg better... you'll save what.. 1.50-2.00 each fill... the additives only work for a fill or a few, and they all go for like 7.00+. Doesn't seem worth potentially harming you're car when you're not saving any money anyway.

I'm no where near an extremist, but, is the dollar difference worth the environment though? Crappy running car hurts more than a clean running car.

NGK platinum spark plugs made a noticeable difference in my car ('93 Accord) for both smoothness of drive and gas mileage (about 2-3 mpg in the average week).

I've heard from MANY people that K & N brand air filters offer decent improvements in mpg and horsepower. Have yet to use one myself as they are very expensive (about $50 for my car). However, this cost is offset by the fact that the filter is reusable, all you do is clean it every 50,000 miles I think. The filter itself carries a million mile guarantee.

I've also gotten good results out of the Lucas brand fuel and oil additives, with no apparent damage to my fuel system.
