Wierd clicking noise.

My Yaris is only one year and six months old and I can hear a clear clicking noise coming from the driver-side front tire area. I'm hoping it not a cv joint. Any idea on what it is? I haven't noticed it before because it was way too hot to ride with the windows down. It is a consistent sound not irregular which is why it confuses me even more. Please hep cause if its a cv I am screwed cause warranty won't cover it.

Usually CV joint only click when the wheels are turned. If you have this noise going in a straight line, it's probably something else. If your Yaris is still under warranty, Toyota must look at it for you. I would be very upset too if I had to take my "new" car in after such a short time. Don't be afraid and demand your right to a repair if needed - dealers are notorious for giving customers a difficult time when needing warranty work. If it is a part that is not covered, you don't have to get it repaired at the Toyota dealer. Even if it is the CV joint, it is not really that hard to replace the half shafts and the cost for parts alone is pretty cheap.

Rock or a nail stuck in your tire? Something rubbing against the brake rotor? Loose brake pads? Pull the wheel and give it an eyeball :)

Take it to the dealer after looking for something stuck in the wheel brake area. Sounds like a bearing issue (probably wheel bearing or tranny since axles usually click a long time in turns before making noise going in a straight line).

I also vote for taking it to the dealer. I had a '95 Beretta with a clicking noise under light acceleration. I took it in, and it turns out they had to tear apart the transmission to replace some bearing -- it was on a TSB that I never new about...

I decided to pull off the hub caps cause I know that will be the first thing they say. So tommorrow I will see if it still clicks and if it does Toyota will be getting a visit from me.
