I have a Jeep Liberty CRD and have made some changes recently. Even tho I added a lift and bigger tires, I have increased MPG of diesel by 14% (city) with some small changes. I aired up to 44psi, no idling whenever possible, slow starts and slow stops, High G turns to carry speed, Aluminum Skids to save weight and flatten the bottom side of the Jeep, 5 AirTabs on the rear roofline to clean air off the back (I should do more down each side but the look is horrendous), coast whenever possible, ect. They have all worked and once you get used to the new driving style, it becomes second nature (coming from a former Mazda 12 and 24 hour enduro racer). I am a big Amsoil Fan but have stayed with a 15-40W (AME) for engine protection. Also installed a 2002 Air Box into my 2006 with an Amsoil EaA 100,000 Air Filter to get colder/cleaner air. Don't really worry about covering radiator openings in San Antonio, Texas...the winter temps are hardly ever bad. I am probably going to remove the backseat since I never use it and build a lightweight flat floor in the cargo area.

The terra tracs looks like a fairly mild tread for an AT, switching to a pure highway tire could help, along with lighter rims if you are running steelies. Maybe some kind of lexan covers over the fog light and turn signal depressions to smooth air flow some?

New EPA ratings put me at 19city/21 combined/23highway...I am getting 21.7city/24.5combined/~28highway

I am still driving a bit of a brick...420cd and 4296#...but 295 Foot pounds of diesel torque make it a pleasure

I'm joining late here, but welcome to GS!

I rented a Libby V-6 last year to volunteer for the Championship Rally event in Missouri. It handled well, and complimented the local Jeep Club as a solid medical vehicle. Good thing it had true 4-wheel drive -- got wet and muddy on the last race day.

So how do you like the Diesel option? I know the V-6 hauled and proved durable at the limits, but I would've liked the torque and efficiency of the CRD. I had to idle quite a bit to keep it warm for cold-weather patients, which ate up the gas. It was much better than the Trailblazer I had the year before, that's for sure :o
