Amsoil 25000 mile oil
 

The 25000 oil change intervals are in my eyes to far out. I don't care what Amsoil reps say 25000 oil change is nuts... If you do it for economy resaon you will see that at about 10000 to 12000 miles the oil will start to loose its lubricating quality. If you don't think I am right check it out for yourself. There is a website deticated to the testing between oils.This company tells all about what you should be carefull on when it comes to extened changes. You will notice first hand the oil will get thicker your economy will decrease a huge amount. They also recomended a booster to the oil at about 10000 miles to bring back lubricating quality. Anyway Amsoil is a good product I just think the 25000 mile extented oil change is crazy...If you can afford it I recomend the oil be check for quality at the 8000 mile mark and every 2500 miles after that...Good luck

Oh, whats that stuff that claims you NEVER have to change again?

I don't figure on using a 25000 interval. I'll be changing my oil spring and fall running 0w20 winter and 0w30 summer.

It's called OLD CAR. Like the Vega a friend used to have, burned about a quart every 1000 miles. I think it was a 3.5 quart sump. Drove it for 4 years this way with no other problems. Call it recycling.
If you use amsoil with 25K intervals possibly you too may eventually never have to change oil again.

My friend put on 26,000 miles on his Escort. He stopped by one day to pick me up and I could hear the engine rattling like a tin can. His wife drives the $hit out of it though once driving by the mail box and shoving it in reverse and busting the tranny. You see, she wants a new car, tired of the hand-me-downs. wah-wah-wah. Ok, so I went off topic.

I use the 25,000 mile oil in my Dak but never go the full distance because the oil just smells bad enough for me to change. I have 10,000 on mine now.

amsoil's 0w30(series 2000) claims a range of 35,000 miles. 25k or 35k suggests least worst conditions. this means, for example, ALL highway miles w/ ALL ideal conditions(clean air, no towing, mild temps, etc.)

how often do cars have ideal conditions? best bet is to go w/ mile range or one year, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST! still cost effective w/ this stipulation.
i.e. if with the 25k oil you drive only 2500 miles after a year, CHANGE IT ANYWAY!

these mile limits are prolly tested in a lab(controlled atmosphere).

Okay, so I just did an oil change today and put in Mobil synthetic rated at 1 15,000 miles before changing or 1 year under normal conditions. I have an old high mileage Civic VX 1.5 liter engine (3.5 quarts oil) and I am wondering how many miles can I go before changing it? I was thinking 10,000. Sub freezing nights will be starting in about two weeks. So about 1/2 of this oil change will be driven in winter conditions. I drive about 3000 miles every two months. Which means I shouldn't need to change it again until May, but maybe I should do it sooner if I have a high mileage engine?

Not sure on how long you can go, but I'd make sure to check every so often to make sure you haven't burnt it all up before the 15k is up, :p

Yeah, I had burnt through a little oil the last 3,000 miles. I have a little left over I can always top off with.
