FETC Winter Challenge

Well folks, it looks like we have have 2 teams with an interest in returning.

As we know, Winter is a critical time to work at preventing too much of a loss in FE.

Let's take a week to make some suggestions and determine conclusions.

For example:
  • Some members request a shorter cycle to prevent "burnout"
  • There seems to be an interest to keep the competition going through Winter
  • Should we take a week off between Cycles?
  • Increasing the minimum fill -- there's another contest for minimum total fuel consumption.

Let's have some impromptu votes, additions to the "suggestion box", and hit the road.

I'm new to the FETC so have no "feel" for it and can't say much. But I do have one comment:

We still have to drive in the Winter, right? So why shouldn't there be a Winter phase to the challenge? Yeah, I know it gets super-variable thanks to weather, and the folks way up North can get hit really hard with ice and snow issues. But isn't it also variable with high temperatures in the Summer in the South/Southwest? Besides, this is just a friendly competition and the bottom line is that no matter who wins, everyone wins. So it's not like a massive snowstorm unfairly killing one team's numbers really matters in the grand scheme.

I'm good with whatever everyone wants to do, though.

Lets just set a date and keep it going! This will push each team to regroup, communicate with each other and refoucus on fuel economy!
