What FE would make you happy?

The average mixed driving FE in the US including light trucks is 17 mpg. What would you settle for as an average? Choose a figure that would be your acceptable low number.

You should have made the names visible so we could harass people.

I was going to say, where is the 70mpg+ option?

bowtieguy 11-12-2007 12:45 PM

35 would be great w/ my present vehicle. but, 40+ w/ another full size car would be fantastic. a hybrid or 4 cyl diesel perhaps? not in the budget @ this time.

No there's enough of that already. I guess I need to clarify the questions. As a national average what FE would you accept?

SVOboy 11-12-2007 01:44 PM

I know, I was teasing the current situation of meanness. :p

I put 30+ ... I figured to hope for more than that would be futile ... baby steps! Until they start letting little diesels in, that is the best overall I could hope for.

Really, that is the figure I am aiming to get to LOL

I didn't vote based on me, I voted based on what I would like to see "out there".

I voted 35 MPG because my "litmus test" going back 20 years was 28+ MPG city. I have never used the highway MPG as an indicator because I consider the highway to be the ideal driving conditions of the car, not the day to day.

I think 35 is very doable, since compact cars can get 30 MPG combined.

Now that I read closer, my acceptable low number would be 30 MPG. Shoulda voted 30 :o .

For my personal MPG? It will always be 1 MPG greater than what I am getting now (over 90 day interval), until I have reached the peak of what my car can do.
