Seat "skins" for `92 Civic VX?!

I have looked high, wide and far with no success at all in finding replacement "skins" for my VX seats.

They're getting to the point where I can't stand them anymore. Lots of VX guys here...what have you done with yours?

There has to be a source for replacements.......right?

GasSavers_TomO 11-13-2007 06:56 PM

Del Sol seats....just have to swap the rails and they bolt right in. IMHO they are way more comfy than the Civic seats.

If you don't want to swap seats, then a $10 seat cover from an auto parts store does the trick as well.

Stealership will rape your wallet for an OEM seat skin.

Danronian 11-13-2007 08:40 PM

You might be able to find someone selling seat covers or old OEM civic seats for cheap. I know I sent a mint set that came in my hatch for about $30 for the pair, and actually had a hard time getting rid of them. But if you can find them, I would recommend getting some del sol seats since they are a lot more comfortable, and actually feel good on my back unlike the terribly uncomfortable and unsupportive civic seats. They can be pricey though. They generally go from $75-$300 for a pair.

For the visual learners out there...

The most worthwhile "mod" I've ever done to a Honda!

I see alot of people putting Integra GSR Leather seats in their Civic hatches now. I'm going to check some junkyards to see how much they run.

Just be forewarned that the Integra Leather seats weigh in at 44lbs. each!

Del Sol seats weigh in between 16 and 20lbs each depending on year. If you really want leather seats, they do make a leather seat skin for the Del Sol seats, but it's a rare (read: expensive) commodity.

smccall 11-14-2007 05:54 AM

whoa, didn't know they weighed that much. I might have to reconsider now because that can definitely affect gas mileage. All of the hatches I've seen them in were all swapped with B16s, B18s, and B20s so you know they weren't into FE.

Danronian 11-14-2007 06:15 AM

I had a leather interior'd Integra once, and I really didn't like it. They are supportive seats, but once you add the smooth-leather, you just slide around in them. Integra seats are also a good option though, since they're easy to find, and sometimes cheap. WIth either the del sol or Integra seats all you need to do is bolt your seat rails onto them, and they bolt right in.

What year Tegs are we talking about?

94-01 for sure. I've seen a lot of people with the 90-93 integra seats in civics too, but I've never seen them first-hand, so I don't know if they need to be modified to fit.

smccall 11-14-2007 11:39 AM

I'm talking about 94-01 DC2 Integras. Even the rear seats go right in.

Sigifrith 11-14-2007 03:19 PM

Thanks, my drivers seat is slowly dissolving & I'd like to replace it.

The rear seats do fit, but not well. I've heard the 4dr rear seats are a perfect fit into the EG gen (92-95) hatch.

oh, ok. I wonder why? You would think the hatch rears would be a closer fit being that its a hatch compared to a larger 4dr.

The Integra back seat is actually a bit smaller. If you've ever rode in the back of an Integra, you can kinda notice it compared to being in the back of the civic. I believe the bottom of the seat is the problem part with the 2dr rear. I believe it isn't nearly as tall as the civic seat so you can see a big gap between it and the top part of the seat.

4bfox 11-14-2007 07:09 PM

So, let me get this straight: 94-01 Integra seats will fit my `92 VX? I need front HB seats, and 4dr rear seats, right?

Sounds like I need to check some salvage yards...

Thanks for the enlightenment!

Danronian 11-14-2007 07:15 PM

I haven't done a real life comparison between the rear seats from the 4dr/2drs (This is more based off of what other people have told me, and I have seen some 2 dr rear seats not fit before.), but to be sure, I would test the fitment while at the junkyard. Then you'll know for sure.

smccall 11-16-2007 04:57 AM

I had a 95 2dr Integra so I dont know what the 4dr ones look like. I could tell the hatches had seats from a 2dr Integra based on the rear seat only seating 2 and having a plastic tray thingy between the two seats.

Would 99-00 SI Seats fit in a VX? These look great, but pricey.

new, from the dealer, the fabric covering for the seat runs $167 per piece, same price for the upper half as the lower half, so $334 per seat, $668 to redo both seats, I would assume custom made upholstery would cost about the same, didn't see a price for a whole new seat.
I simply have a seat cover that I cut to fit just over the back of the drivers seat where the hole is.

Thats just the seat covers. If you have a hole in the cushion, then it's about double the price. I priced out the pieces the other day at Majestic. I'd rather buy a newer, better seat for that money.

4bfox 04-04-2008 04:28 AM

I FINALLY picked up a pair of Integra seats that were in excellent condition, swapped my VX rails for the 'Teg rails, and bolted them right in. I DID have to take the driver's seat apart and roll the fabric back for some sewing....the seam on the left side was starting to come apart. Not unusual for 14 yr old seats, I suppose. They look great and are very comfortable. I pd $175 for them, delivered and thought I got a pretty good deal (after looking for a year or so).

Does anyone know how much the original VX seats weigh?

4bfox 04-04-2008 02:10 PM

I didn't weigh mine, but they seemed about the same weight as the Integra seats....which are covered in fabric, not leather.

mkiVX 05-03-2008 05:48 PM

check out my integra seats
bolted right is and beats the stock civic seats
