Hello from WI
 

Hello everyone. I'm from WI. I happened to get onto this forum a while ago and it's gotten my attention since. I'm pretty good at trying to keep track of the mpg on all my cars, except the wifey's car:D . I currently commute w/two diff. cars. The first one is a 07' Honda Civic SI sedan w/the HFP body kit, which I have been getting a good 33-34mpg on my work commute at 65mph. (Currently trying to sell the SI sedan.) The second car is a 92' Honda Accord EX 4dr 5-spd w/230K miles, and on this car I've only manage to get up to 28mpg while staying at 65mph or under. I have a friend that has a 93'Civic CX hatchback 5-spd w/150K miles that he is willing to sell to me. Thinking about getting the Civic CX as the commuter rather than the accord. Let me know what you guys think. Or if you have ideas on how I can improve the FE of the accord, please let me know.:thumbup: :D Thanks.

I believe those accords have much larger engines, and are obvioulsy much heavier and less aerodynamic than the civic hatchback counterparts.

The CX should get you 40+ mpg easily, which depending on the length of your commute could pay for itself rather quickly.

Thanks. I'm from the LaCrosse, WI (western side of the state bordering MN by I90). I actually commute about 90miles round trip for 4-days a week. That's why I'm trying to get rid of the 07' Civic SI. Eventhough it gets better gas mileage than the accord and has more power, I hate paying for premium and not being able to enjoy the spirited SI.

Thanks about the CX. I think my friend said that it does need some dents removed here and there, but hopefully nothing major. I still have to go take a look at the car. I'll make sure I post it, if I get the car.

The CX will do you better as a commuter car than the Accord will. If the CX fits the bill properly for you, then go for it.

Welcome aboard as well. Be sure to do some more snooping, if you haven't already, and read up on aerodynamic mods and driving techniques that you can use with the CX if you get it.

It's cool to see another member not too far from me as well. I live just northwest of Minneapolis.

Welcome to GS! The CX sounds like a winner. It's the same generation as the Civic VX and you're shedding 80K on the odometer. Having an SI and a thrifty car is a perfect combination. Have your fun and save money too.

remember that the CX is essentially the descendant of the CRX HF. It's essentially the same engine... 8 valves, 4 cylinders. Low power, high gas mileage.

I'd take the CX...wait...I already have one. But really, like they've all said, a CX will get 40mpg with "normal" driving. If you want to get all creative with it you can squeeze a lot more out of it. Just take a look at basjoos's garage and to a much lesser extent, mine.

Sorry, my friend is not selling the CX anymore. He's using it as a winter beater and just a beater car until it's warm enough to take out his 05' S2000. Mus be nice to be able to do that.:( He's just lucky, he doesn't have any kids yet.:D Oh well, my search will cont. for a more FE car.
