picked up a cx transmission for the in sol

so my del sol's tranny started making some odd noises. i started to trouble soot it, and i found that the output bearing was shot. to replace the bearing i needed to pull the trans. i figured i would just buck up and buy a cx/vx trans while i was at the business of removing trans i hope this will bump my mpg.

Yes that will help MPG a lot! Good luck with everything. Civic trannies are easy to replace thankfully.

On the other hand, it doesn't seem like going with an HF transmission in my 1989 DX did much to help MPG. The car still doesn't seem to be much more economical (if any more) than my ITR CRX. Maybe it's time to ditch DPFI and OBD0.

what can i expect in the sise of gains in mpg

I did an HF trans swap into my 87 DX. I think it increased my mpg by about 3mpg or so. It does make the car much quieter on the interstate (less rpms in top gear). Your city mpg might suffer a little because its harder to find the optimal gear.

I hope it works nice for you.

I tried replacing my VX 240k mile tranny with a CX one a while back, but once it was installed, I was greeted with a whine similar to a supercharger.... Less than 3 hours later, VX tranny went back in and is still working great with 6k more miles on it now.

I really love how easy it is to replace D-series trannies in Civics. With just jackstands, woodblocks, and one jack, I easily accomplished it alone.
