Civic EX with VX swap

Am considering downsizing from 2 cars (95 Integra GSR and 90 CRX HF) to one car. I like the 92-95 Civic sedans more then the hatchbacks, but of course, they don't get the mileage a VX would. Has anyone ever tried putting a VX engine and transmission in a Civic sedan? It's a heavier car, so I doubt it would get the FE a VX would, but am just wondering how much worse it would be.

Not that heavier... its like if you drive the vx with a passenger.

If you look up the weight of the different sedans, they really aren't too heavy. Some are actually very close to the weight of the Si hatches. I looked up the weight of them a while ago on Honda-tech, and found some informative threads on them.

I think a VX swap would work out great for them. Some did come with the DX engine, and that motor has less performance compared to the VX.

It'll only take a few offa city and maybe one or two off highway. I think it'd be easiest/cheapest to drop the CX/VX trans w/ the 3.25 R&P in a coupe or four door, and ya wouldn't have to pay for another engine or visit the state ref for smog since all the emissions equipment is the same. You'd loose out on a few highway mpgs since the car wouldn't have lean burn, but at the speeds you claim to travel on the 5 I don't think it would be all that advantageous anyway. Post up whatcha do as well, I've been thinking nabbing a manual EG8/9, but unless it can pull at least 45mpg@70mph I don't think it'd be worth the hassle.

i've got a 95 civic lx with the VX tranny and i can pull between 40 and 45 mpg at 75'ish with the regular LX engine

I would think you might be better off getting the civic HX, and like someone else did on here, put the VX tranny in it, you would then also have OBDII for the scangauge, of coure the HX is a 2 door cupe, not a 4 door sedan... so maybe an engine swap that way?
