Gas Brand
First, I am new here, so I apologize if this topic has been done to death and if it has, just lock me lol. But I was wondering if youhave noticed different MPG with different gas brands. I only use Chevron because it has Techron in it, but I wonder if another brand would yield better MPG? Again, please just delete or ignore me if this has been done to death. Have mercy on a n00b.

Cus this isn't yahoo answers, LOL
is it me or did it just get stupider in here? ;) |
I can say that after ABA testing, that I definitely am getting better MPGs with my current gas. It costs more, and in the end, even figuring in the added FE, it isn't worth it from a monetary standpoint for me to buy the gas that I currently am buying... so why do I buy it? My company foots the bill and I like getting good FE.

i've tested several different brands in my area concluding that shell works best for my car. that said, the chevron near my home is a very old station, if that means anything.

Hess gas. Usually cheapest around here and was getting a little bit better mileage with it. Haven't filled there the last few times just because I got too low on gas to get to one.

The gas mileage gains or losses between brands are probably negligible. That said, I would prefer to stick to GOOD gas. When I say good gas I don't mean high octane vs low octane (most people I talk to think that high octane means the gas is "good"). I mean gas that comes from good companies. Companies that are preferably Top Tier Rated. These gases will keep the insides of your engine cleaner (which can mean less maintenance costs further down the line) than that cheap no-name gas people buy so they can save 1 penny per gallon. I know Chevron and Shell are Top Tier. And I think Texaco and QT are now too. I still prefer Chevron and Shell.

I like to buy gas from Shell, but any of these companies should be fine too:
QuikTrip Chevron Conoco Phillips 76 Shell Entec Stations MFA Oil Company Kwik Trip/Kwik Star The Somerset Refinery, Inc. Chevron-Canada Aloha Petroleum Tri-Par Oil Company Shell-Canada Texaco Petro-Canada Sunoco-Canada They are all "Top Tier" rated and have agreed to have greater levels of detergents in their fuel that currently required by the EPA, and such will protect and clean you engine better then a fuel with only the minimum level of detergent.
