Converting a cx hatch to a vx.. what is needed
Hello I am having a hard time tracking down a decent milage VX I was thinking about getting.. A CX and just swaping out the engine Harness and ECU.. Is this possible? anything else required?
thanks jim |
Hi Jim...
Here is what you'll need: the d15z1 engine p07 ECU EGR Control Box 5 wire 02 sensor (unless you use the California VX ECU, in which case you can keep your four wire) The rest is wiring, wihch you can either do yourself, or just get an engine harness. The Transmission is the same. The aero is more or less the same on both cars. You could get VX wheels/rims if you wish. The VX has a few other small weight reduction features unique to the VX, but odds are it won't affect your gas mileage THAT greatly, and wont' be worth the trouble/cost to try to convert it. Realize that this conversion will increase your mpg, but might take a VERY long time to pay for itself. |
I would just drive the CX until you come across all the parts you need for cheap. Often you can find VX parts for almost nothing, if you wait, and are at the right place at the right time.

Check on the hondaswap forums and other local street racing forums. Or even call you local speed shops. Often these motors are tossed or sold for dirt since lack of power.
