Traded auto trix for manual

Hello peeps! Wishing you guys and gals a Happy New year!!!! hahaha... Now that we have that out of the side, i just want to update you guys about my lil problem i once had with my Xr auto. I remember i typed a brief review about my wife's 06 matrix xr (which she would not let go). It was quite a disappointment when i pulled out my results from the scangauge (may it RIP), but now we had come to the conclusion that the xr auto must go. My wife was brave enough to step out of the comfort zone, go back to the dealers with me, and scavenge for a 5speed matrix. Our deal was to find the exact model, with all accommodations (moonroof, outlet, skirts, rims, vanity [lol], etc), but only have the transmission changed to manual. After 2 months of searching, we found a silver 07 Xr 5-speed with only 7k miles for a great price (well, we talked them down to $17,000)! We traded our 06 auto dark blue trix for our new 5speeder, and off we went. Her effort in handling the new trix has astounded me (the girl never ceases to amaze me). Haha!!! And now i gotta go back to work on my crx... LOL... when will be finished?! lol. Here are ome pics of the trix we bought

My future mods include:
*build a full underbody tray
*front grill block
*oil catch can
*lighter wheels (the wife loves the oem rims though)
*Hotchkis lowering springs
*remove antenna
*hyper ground wires.

In other words... it's going to remain just about the same, since she wants no extreme mod done to it. I hope this time around the mpg wont be so disappointing. Any other comments, advice, and recommendations are welcome!

very nice. going from auto to manual on the same car is like driving a whole different car. (well except I just swapped transmissions. RWD ease of alteration FTW)

Also good job on talking toyota down 3k!

Nice Move!
I recommend releasing the emergency brake to improve mileage (see second pic.) ;)
Happy new year.
Tom.

Congrats on the manual Trix. I know my wife loves hers. Looking forward to seeing what you get out of yours. My wife said the full grill block helped ours get up to operating temps much quicker.

Hope this one does satisfying results. What rims did the old one have? My old now sold '03 (auto) had 16" steelies - I think that may have been a big + for the reason why I got exceptional mileage with the car. Always 33+ and more towards 37 most of the time.

After seeing that, it makes me miss mine, but since I've now worked my way down to a $2200 car I'm thinking I am even saving more in the end.
