Digital audio?

I picked up a set boston speakers with subwoofer at a yard sale for $1. They looked nice but were missing the ac/dc convertor. I sourced one from my junk bin. It didn't take long for me to figure out something was funny about these speakers. The input was labeled "digital" and was a single shielded rca connector. Needless to say they don't work with anything I own. Do you guys have any idea what I could use them for or are they a waste of my $1.

My computer and my garage sale 600-watt 5.1 reciever both have a RCA digital in/output.

Go to www.geeks.com, www.newegg.com, www.tigerdirect.com etc and find a sound card with a digital out.
