Civic Vx Oxygen Sensor from Majestic Honda - $142.32
 

Hi, I'm looking in to buying Oxygen sensor for my 1994 Civic Vx. I found that Majestic Honda has O2 sensor for $142.32. That's the best price I could find, provided it's OEM NTK L1H1 sensor.

that part number is for the o2 sensor for the Californa ONLY civic vx, a 4 wire o2 sensor, not the 5 wire wide band sensor, so unless you have the Californa modle of VX that sensor will not work and will not let your car go in to lean burn.
From what I can figure out the origonal o2 sensor lasts about 200,000 miles or slightly more then 10 years, so in my eyes it's a worth while part to replace with a NGK (going under a differnt, but simaler name) or simaler high quality sensor.

There are a couple of supposedly new five wire sensors on eBay for around $75-$80 plus shipping.

From reports on this site I gathered that it's not L1H1 sensor.

If I have non- California car, will it's 02 harness accept a 5 wire L1H1 and that alone will let the engine go into lean-burn mode allowing me to increase my mileage?

sorry. I should have been more specific. It is a Canadian model. Are there any disadvantages of this model from a standard US model? It has a 4 wire sensor like the CA version.

California model had worse millage (37/45 vs 39/50 according to https://www.fueleconomy.gov) and did not have lean burning mode. If you have a 4 wire sensor, it's probably similar to California model. To convert to 5 wire sensor/lean burn you might have to swap the ECU, although I don't know that for sure.

I am ready to swap my CA '94 VX to a non-CA ECU and to a 5 wire L1H1 sensor in order to get lean burn. Do I also need to change engine harness or will the 5 wire plug into the 4 wire connector?
