Diesel Fuel Prices

I know they have been on the way up as of late but just saw 3.99 a gallon:( . There is a 60-70 cents a gallon difference between gas and diesel. Kinda make its hard for me to pay the added price for the diesel motor... I dont think It would ever pay itself off with that difference. Sorry for the rant

Yeah, it sucks, huh?

For me to replace my E350 with a gas motor, I figured that I would need to see diesel at 40-50% more expensive than gasoline before I would need to think about a gas engine again.

So, with gasoline here at $3.099 as of the last day I was out, diesel would need to rise to $4.32 to $4.63.

As it is, I've had fewer maintenance and mechanical issues with my diesel than I had with my gas motors doing less work.

Still sucks.

Got to continue my work with adding a little vegetable oil and gasoline to my diesel.

I thought I saw it all today. 4.21 for Diesel. JFYI reg unleaded 3.32. Im not in a major city either.

IMO it's the long heating season pushing diesel prices up, competition for resources with heating oil. So I figure diesel prices will soften up a bit as the warmer weather gets here.

However, might be a good time to capitalise on the "OMG diesel is too expensive" sales of some neat vehicles.

Have the prices gone up that much?
My 98 TDI (Turdle) has had two fill-ups since I bought it in October.
My 97 TDI (Camel II) has had three since September, the last over a month ago.
Each still have over 1/2 tank remaining.
And I have about 30 gallons of B100 biodiesel remaining from my 50 gallon purchase last fall.

GasSavers_Ryland 03-07-2008 08:14 AM

How is that price of B100 comparing to standard diesel fuel?

GasSavers_SD26 03-07-2008 08:29 AM

Well, as demand increases, and supplies remain low, it's gonna go up.

I haven't found any bargains for biodiesel really that got me up in arms trying to buy any locally. Btu content goes down with more bio. Some that run more bio have pump problems too. B5 really helps the lubricity with ULSD, and I think one has to look at B5 as the fuel of choice with current sulfur mandates.

I thought it was ppl just running WVO or black diesel and not filtering it very well that were having injector pump problems, not people using properly made biodiesel.

No, I don't think it's a perfected at all yet.

I think as an additive, it's good. As a complete replacement? I'm not sold on it at all, my opinion.

If it makes you feel any better the gas prises in Finland are currently following:

Petrol (95): 1,43?/l => 2,16$/l => 8,18$/gal
Diesel: 1,25?/l => 1,89$/l => 7,32$/gal

:mad:
