Hi All!

Recently joined the forum. I have a 96 Hyundai Accent 5 Speed.

Been a great car for the 75K I've put on it.

2100 lbs, 155/80/13 tires, and I've gotten anywhere from 32-40 MPG. I drive ~600 miles/week, and it's time for a challenging commute to keep me occupied! Looks like trying to increase my FE is a good way to do it.

(My commute is 53 miles one way)

I have a Scangauge ordered. :D

Probably will do a grill block, tire overinflate, possibly lower the car, do something w/ at least one mirror, and wiper delete. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

But great to find a forum like this with people really doing it!

Welcome to GS! 2100 lbs should make for an MPG champ. If my tires weren't one size larger, I would be seriously contemplating lowering right now.

Saw some other posts you had made, but hadn't paid attention to your vehicles, and the username hadn't registered in my brain.

You going to keep track of MPG for your bike now, too? :p

BTW: Picked up an 01 SV650 last week.
Jen picked up an F2 last week as well. Should be something she can grow more on and do track days on, and actually learn something.

Well, the care will be OK MPG wise. The gearing's too short, unfortunately. Especially 5th gear. 70 MPH is nearly 3500 RPM. I don't see a way to make it taller via tires. Other tires/wheels available even in 14s aren't tall enough to be any taller than the standard size.

We'll see what I can get out of it stock.

I'll have to see if the Hyundai Excel had a taller 5th gear? Would be nice if I could just swap out 5th gear in the tranny.

Yeah, I'd keep track of the bike mileage, but it wouldn't be so good, you know. :D Racin' a GSXR750 this year. Did an SV1000S last year. No more contingency on that.

3500RPM at 70. WOW! I mean, our Focus and Taurus are in the 3000 range, but they don't do as well as your car in FE. Does going a little slower help on your drive to work?

Yeah, slower seems to help. Once I get the Scan Gauge and get it calibrated I'll be able to map out my FE Vs MPH.

A GSXR750? No more R6?

Yeah, the '03 R6 left in October. The '06 R6 left in October '06. I raced an SV1000S last year. No more contingency from Suzuki for 2008 on it since it's not a bike in 2008. Led the Suzuki Cup Final though. That was cool.
